Kantouni is one of the last traditional kafeneia (coffeehouses) on the island. You will find it on the main Pyrgos square.
This family-run kafeneio dates back to the 1980s. Mrs Voula, the second-generation owner, has been keeping the coffeehouse alive for the last 16 years; her youngest son recently joined her in running the family business.
At the slab-paved yard, in the cool shade of the pines, you will enjoy Mrs Voula’s specialties, made with love and care for her customers: sfouggato (the traditional egg-and-potato omelet), omelet with local courgettes, and many traditional meze such as fried tomato balls, sausages, and cheeses as an accompaniment to ouzo, tsipouro (grape-based pomace brandy), and beer.
At Kantouni you can also enjoy Greek coffee with grape spoon preserves on the side.
Open from 08.30 in the morning till late in the evening.
